CENTRAL ASIAN GENDER WORKSHOP

Globe International assisted to the Confederation of Mongolian Journalists, which hosted the Central Asia Gender Workshop in the Mongolian capital city, Ulaanbaatar, from 13-15 October 2003. The workshop brought together 20 representatives from unions and journalists associations in Central Asia, South Caucasus, Russia and Mongolia. The working language was Russian. The purpose of the workshop was to discuss gender issues in Central Asia, South Caucasus, Russia and Mongolia. The focus was on the particular problems facing women journalists, and the portrayal of women in the media. Participants identified the priority issues, and devised strategies to address them. The strategy includes actions the IFJ could undertake to support and strengthen free and independent journalism in this region, and women journalists in particular.

Final report and Regional Action Plan were produced: English and Russian
